LCA Data Operations Team Lead for a Sustainability SaaS

We are looking for an energetic Data Operations Team Lead to work with our data squad and lead a large, multicultural and globally dispersed team of around 15 data analysts who are responsible for making Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) data available to our customers globally. We expect the person to be a leader who can drive measurable efficiency gains across the team and reliable delivery.

You will oversee the global data operations team with members located across Asia, Middle-East, Europe and the Americas. As the members of your team represent around 10 different nationalities, you will need to be culturally sensitive and have prior experience in managing multi-national teams.
Your team is responsible for ensuring data availability, accuracy and reliability for both internal stakeholders and external clients as part of enterprise-grade solutions. The work is really exciting as leading brands across the world are your customers already, and the business is growing very fast, driven both by regulation and the global urgency to combat global warming. You will work with various kinds of data, including product sustainability data published by manufacturers and generic LCA data published by industry bodies.
Your operative focus includes productivity metrics, quality assurance, incident management and alert monitoring. Coordination and collaboration with other teams across the organisation is critical, for example, to develop data pipeline automation ensure data availability in products, and deliver outstanding customer support.
This is a full-time, permanent and fully remote position open to candidates based in India. Occasional travel e.g. to company headquarters in Helsinki, Finland, is required.
What you will do:
- Lead and develop your high-performing, globally dispersed team of data analysts in delivering value to construction and manufacturing customers.
- Understand the priorities yourself, and make sure everyone in your team understands them. Work with your team on a daily basis to ensure high productivity and timely delivery.
- Be metric-focused. Think of the key metrics you need to move and clearly articulate what leading indicators you want to track in the journey. Monitor and report on the KPIs and identify areas of improvement.
- Maintain and optimise operational workflows, constantly identifying opportunities for process improvements.
- Engage with customers directly, to understand their pain points or delight to unlock insights about how to deliver more value.
- Communicate and collaborate. Collect and prioritise requirements for data operations, both from customers and internal stakeholders. Document and communicate requirements your team has for data pipelines automation to improve productivity.
- Support career development. Be interested in, and supporting, the career development aspirations of your team members. Conduct annual appraisals and drive personal development of team members.
What you need:
- People Management experience of at least 5 direct reports.
- Ability to digest complex data and scale data production.
- Understand automation of data integration flows across disparate systems.
- Strong Project management skills driving accountability.
- 4+ years of experience leading and managing global data operations, preferably environmental data, for B2B SaaS products.
- Cultural sensitivity and experience in managing multi-national teams. Prior work experience in Europe or North America is a significant benefit.
- Proven track record of developing and managing data operations that seek to collect often poorly structured data from a vast number of external sources and then efficiently process such data into a uniform structure, with related process leadership skills and technical know-how.
- Extensive experience with alert monitoring and incident management.
- We prefer candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in software engineering and/or environmental engineering.
- Understanding of LCA concepts and experience with related data is a significant plus.
- Eagerness to work in a fast-moving and high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to detail and managing stakeholder expectations.
- Great communication and collaboration skills.
- Ownership and Bias-for-Action - these should come naturally to you.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English as it is our working language; other languages are a plus.
- Kindly note, we are NOT looking for Data operations profiles from financial risk scores or GIS data.
